Development Concepts, Inc. crafted a Redevelopment & Market Study for the 400 Block of Elkhart’s Main Street. DCI worked closely with community leaders and city officials to develop what the Elkhart Truth proclaimed as “The Next Bold Step.” Central to the Plan was the renovation of the ELCO Theatre, a prominent 1920’s movie house. DCI’s market analysis examined growth trends in several key markets, including tourism, entertainment, and hospitality and determined renovation of the ELCO Theatre, along with several other ongoing initiatives, would generate strong support for a growth in downtown businesses over the next five years.
As the Executive Director of the county’s convention and visitor’s bureau, I have always thought that Elkhart’s downtown could play a bigger role in our resident’s lives and the visitor experience.
